A Total Parish Approach
“The parish is where the Church lives. Parishes are communities of faith, of action, and of hope. They are where the Gospel is proclaimed and celebrated, where believers are formed and sent to renew the earth. Parishes are the home of the Christian community; they are the heart of the Church. Parishes are where God’s people meet Jesus in word and sacrament and come in touch with the source of the Church’s life.” (Communities of Salt and Light, page 1)
Youth Ministry at Our Lady of Good Counsel intends to call upon its youth to a loyal and active participation in parish life. Our young people are invited to be good stewards of the Gospel through the sharing their unique and God-given gifts with the parish at large. In addition to parish ministries, OLGC offers programs specifically designed to meet youth at this particular passage of life. Youth Ministry includes Boy Scouts, a Catholic Youth Organization (CYO sports) and a High School Youth Ministry Program. A priest moderator who is assisted by boards made up of adult volunteers and staff members oversees all areas of Parish Life.
YOUTH MINISTRY-VERY IMPORTANT
Due to the Archdiocese’s new regulations new forms must be filled out by new and existing
Youth Ministry members. The five page packet must be filled out and signed by teen and parent/guardian.
No internet communication with teen is permitted unless the new packet is filled out and complete. The packet can be picked up in the back of church, Trinity center, or at Youth Group.
